At Children First, the child is allowed to progress based on developmental
needs, so the children's ages vary in each classroom.
Each classroom
environment is carefully prepared with materials that interest the
children at their specific level of development.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR
During the regular school year, all of the children participate in weekly Spanish
lessons and bring a selected book home from the 3,000-volume library. Each
classroom has an area set up for art and a private reading nook so the children's
budding love for books can always be satisfied. Additionally, the children
enjoy caring for and observing the animals and fish in the classrooms.
SCHEDULE
OPTIONS
The regular full day schedule is 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. with supplemental
care available 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 3:30-6:00 p.m. Part-time (two or three
days/week) is an option
for families. We believe all children benefit from the Montessori experience,
if only for a few days each week. Part-time students attend the entire day
(8:30-3:30) because the experience of routine is an important element in
building classroom
camaraderie.
Children First teachers provide Alternative Care during many of the school
holidays, here at the school. Our parents appreciate the option to have their
children
in familiar surroundings with consistent caregivers they know well.
SUMMER
The
summer program offers fun activities for children, including riding their
bikes, playing in the sprinklers and visiting with an interesting guest.
We
typically invite recording artists, dentists, fire fighters and police
officers,
to name
a few. Since the child's development does not take time off for summer,
teachers continue to make presentations and use of the Montessori materials.
